SAFECAM
SafeCam is a contemporary crime prevention and investigation tool. Many business owners and residents operate surveillance systems at their businesses and homes. If crimes occur nearby, residents and business owners aren’t always aware that their system may have captured information that could help solve the crime. Similarly, police aren’t always aware of who might have potentially vital information.
The Bradenton Police Department asks residents and businesses to register privately owned surveillance camera systems. As officers respond to criminal incidents in our community, they may be able to use the information or footage gathered from the security cameras to assist in the apprehension and prosecution of the criminals involved.
To participate in this program, contact Officer Joshua Small at Joshua.small@bradentonpd.com or 941-875-2096.
Registration is simple! You provide basic information and tell us where your cameras are located. There is no cost associated with registration, and your information is confidential. You may request to have your registration deleted at any time. Once you have completed the registration and verification process, a member of the Department will follow up with you to confirm your registration.
You will only be contacted by the Bradenton Police Department if it is believed your security camera captured a criminal incident. Police personnel, if necessary, may request a copy of any video captured by your camera, which may assist in an investigation.
All information provided to the Bradenton Police Department is protected under Florida State Statute Chapter 119 and is exempt from public records requests. The program does not guarantee the Bradenton Police Department the right to the information recorded on your camera(s). You can revoke police access to your system at any time. Your information will be stored. If a crime occurs in your area, a detective may contact you to ask to view your camera(s).
