Texas Man Pleads Guilty To Cocaine Distribution Following BPD Traffic Stop

A Brownsville, TX, man faces up to 40 years in federal prison thanks to the Bradenton Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, Narcotics K9 Blue, and Homeland Security Investigations.
On January 25, 2024, a Bradenton Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an unassigned license plate. After the car stopped, Julio Cesar Deleon, 38, ran from officers but was quickly apprehended.
Narcotics K9 Blue completed a walk-around on the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of 5.8 kilos of Cocaine laced with Fentanyl and $2,576 in cash.
On October 9, 2024, United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that Deleon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. Deleon is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9, 2024, and faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years, up to 40 years, in federal prison.
