Bradenton Police Detectives have arrested a 7-Eleven clerk for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following a series of confrontations at the store, in the 900 block of 14th St. W., on Tuesday, April 30.

Danny Waiters, 34, admits stabbing the victim, a man in his 60s who frequently carries a spear. According to Waiters, the victim approached him behind the 7-Eleven, they argued, and the victim displayed the spear but did not threaten him with it. Later, after the store manager told the victim to leave the property, Waiters intervened and argued with the victim again. The victim turned his back on employees, and Waiters stabbed him once with a pocketknife. Waiters says he believed the victim was going to grab the spear.

The victim underwent surgery and is recovering. Waiters agreed to turn himself in. Officers took him into custody this morning.
