School Speed Zone Camera Program returns for 2025-26 school year

The first day of school in Manatee County is August 11, 2025. The City of Bradenton School Speed Zone Camera Program will return for the 2025-26 school year, despite the program’s suspension in Manatee County.

School speed zone cameras in the City of Bradenton monitor speeds during the entire school day. During the 2024-25 school year, these cameras issued 12,320 violations. The highest speed was recorded at Sea Breeze Elementary: 78 mph in a 25 mph zone - 53 miles over the posted speed limit!

Top speeds and top violations recorded by each camera between January 1, 2025, and the end of the 2024-25 school year:

Sea Breeze Elementary

  • Northbound 71st W: 78 mph, 53 mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

  • Southbound 71st St W): 46 mph, 21 mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

Bradenton Christian School

  • Northbound 43rd St W): The top speed was clocked at 62 mph. At the time, the posted speed limit was 40 mph. Another driver received a violation for driving 60 mph. At the time, the posted speed limit was 20 mph.

  • Southbound 43rd St W): 68 mph, 28 mph over the posted speed limit of 40 mph.

Manatee Elementary

  • Northbound 15th St E: 51 mph, 36 mph over the posted speed limit of 15 mph.

  • Southbound 15th St E: 46 mph, 31 mph over the posted speed limit of 15 mph.

Moody Elementary & Sugg Middle School

  • Northbound 59th St W: 46 mph, 21 mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

  • Southbound 59th St W: 73 mph, 33 mph over the posted speed limit of 40 mph.

J.P. Miller Elementary

  • Northbound 43rd St W: 60 mph, 35 mph over the posted speed limit of 35 mph.

  • Southbound SB 43rd St W: 38 mph, 22 mph over the posted speed limit of 20 mph.

Prine Elementary

  • Eastbound Southern Parkway: 62 mph, 32 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

  • Westbound Southern Parkway: 53 mph, 23 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

Ballard Elementary

  • Eastbound 9th Ave W: 64 mph, 34 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

  • Westbound 9th Ave W: 64 mph, 34 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

G.D. Rodgers Elementary

  • Eastbound 13th Ave W: 64 mph, 39 mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

  • Westbound 13th Ave W: 69 mph, 44 mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

Moody Elementary

  • Eastbound 38th Ave W: 40 mph, 20 mph over the posted speed limit of 20 mph.

  • Westbound 38th Ave W: 40 mph, 25 mph over the posted speed limit of 15 mph.

  • Eastbound 9th Ave W: 51 mph, 16 mph over the posted speed limit of 35 mph.

  • Westbound 9th Ave W: 49 mph, 19 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

  • Eastbound 34th Ave Dr W: 49 mph, 19 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

  • Westbound 34th Ave Dr W: 55 mph, 25 mph over the posted speed limit of 30 mph.
