Pedestrian-involved crash on 8th Ave. W.

The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved crash near the intersection of 8th Avenue W. and 13th Street W.  

The crash was reported at approximately 7:30 a.m. The pedestrian, an 81-year-old man, was walking south on 13th St. W. and was struck by an SUV traveling east on 8th Ave. W. The pedestrian was not using the crosswalk.  

The SUV driver remained on the scene.  

The pedestrian was taken to Blake Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are working to identify the man’s next of kin.  

Eastbound 8th Avenue W. was closed for approximately two hours.
