UPDATE (May 19, 2023): The victim has been identified by fingerprints, and investigators are working to locate his next of kin. We are currently not looking for a hit-and-run driver, however, investigators are working to determine how, and why, the victim was lying in the roadway.
The Bradenton Police Department is investigating an overnight fatality involving a pedestrian on Manatee Ave. E. at 19th St. E.
At 11:23 p.m. a driver called 911 to report she had hit a man who was lying in the westbound lanes of Manatee Ave. E. The driver cooperated with traffic homicide investigators and at this time it is not believed was involved in criminal conduct. Investigators are working to determine if the man was the victim of a hit-and-run crash involving another vehicle, or if other factors led to him lying in the road. Investigators are working to identify the victim and notify next-of-kin.
