Official groundbreaking for new BPD HQ

The Bradenton Police Department and City of Bradenton held an official groundbreaking ceremony today on the future police department headquarters. The new building on 6th Ave W, between 2nd St W and 3rd St W, will replace the outdated headquarters, which opened on November 1, 1998.

The state-of-the-art facility addresses the evolving needs of modern policing, providing future law enforcement officers with the resources they need to serve and protect our citizens effectively. Most importantly, the new headquarters will provide the community with better access to its police department, supporting the community policing model BPD has long embraced. 

Construction is underway on the parking garage for staff and patrol vehicles. Building construction is expected to begin in June. The projected opening for the new BPD HQ is late 2026.
