Blood Emergency Readiness Corps drive
December 2, 2021
The Suncoast Blood Center recently announced BERC, Blood Emergency Readiness Corps. The cooperative works by having blood centers rotate on-call every three weeks to respond to a mass casualty event. Wednesday, for example, three blood centers participating in BERC helped provide blood to hospitals caring for the victims from Tuesday’s shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan, where four people were killed and seven injured.
The Bradenton Police Department stands behind this initiative as it provides blood to mass casualty occurrences that will inevitably, sadly, involve first responders. We invite the public to show your support and join members of BPD donating our “blue blood” on Friday, December 3, from 1:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Bradenton Police Department, 100 10th Street West, Bradenton. The Bloodmobile will be making their rounds at various agencies on Friday, and we ask that all Police and Fire Departments come out to help provide blood for this more than worthy effort. Please visit suncoastblood.org for more information.
