Deundre Dunn convicted in 2019 murder of Laura McLeod

State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced today that Deundre Dunn was convicted after a jury trial of Murder In The Second Degree With A Firearm. Dunn was sentenced to Life in the Department of Corrections.

On April 21, 2019, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Bradenton Police Communications received a 911 call stating a woman was shot at a residence in the 1800 block of 1st Ave E. Arriving officers found 34-year-old Laura McLeod of Bradenton with a gunshot wound to her upper body. McLeod’s teenage daughter was in a nearby room. McLeod’s boyfriend, Dunn, was identified by Bradenton Police Detectives as the shooter. Dunn immediately fled the scene and threw the firearm into the Manatee River where it was later recovered.

The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney Charlie Lawrence commented, “We are pleased with the jury’s ability to stay focused on the relevant evidence that was presented throughout the trial and holding the defendant responsible for his heartless actions. This could not have been done without the investigative skills of the men and women of the Bradenton Police Department. Laura Mcleod and her family have obtained justice for her senseless death.”

Homicide detective Andres Perez was the lead investigator in this case.
