UPDATED (May 4, 2023): The Sarasota Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service arrested 24-year-old Dorian Brooks at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Brooks was inside a friend’s residence for more than 10 hours. He was in the attic when officers were able to apprehend him. There are no injuries involved in this incident. Brooks was booked into the Sarasota County Jail, awaiting transfer to the Manatee County Jail. The Bradenton Police Department has charged him with murder in the second degree and robbery with a firearm. He also faces a charge of domestic battery by strangulation.
EARLIER INFORMATION (May 3, 2023): The Sarasota Police Department and U.S. Marshals Office are assisting BPD in the apprehension of Dorian Brooks, 24, at a location in the 5100 block of Old Bradenton Rd., Sarasota. Brooks is wanted on multiple warrants, including a warrant for murder.
On January 23, 2023, multiple suspects arrived at a residence in the 100 block of 10th Avenue W. to commit an armed robbery. During the robbery, the suspects shot more than 60 times, striking three victims. One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries on January 31.
As a result of Bradenton Police Detectives’ investigation, the following individuals have either been arrested or have active warrants for Armed Robbery and Murder:
