BPD is first FL agency to invest in TASER 10
The Bradenton Police Department, with the support of Mayor Gene Brown and the Bradenton City Council, is the first agency in the state of Florida to invest in TASER 10 for all officers.
The energy devices have an increased range, greater accuracy, lower voltage, and audio-visual warning alerts. These measures create more time and space to de-escalate and resolve confrontations safely and decrease the likelihood of escalation to lethal force.
The devices also feature enhanced data tracking, for full transparency in reporting use-of-force incidents.
BPD will begin instructor training in late summer or early fall, and agency-wide training and deployment are expected shortly after.
The Department currently uses PhaZZer conductive energy weapons.
