Digital Forensics Examiner (Part-Time)

General Purpose of the Position: This is specialized technical work managing multiple camera systems during evenings and weekends, physical and digital crime scene assessment, combined with the collection, preservation, extraction, and analysis of all video/electronic devices supporting police investigations. The DFE would also provide technical support during the execution of search warrants, during operations requiring or involving video/electronic equipment, and perform other operational duties as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough and documented preservation, extraction, and analysis of camera systems and electronic devices to support Criminal Investigations.
Manage evidence logs.
Assess physical and digital crime scenes and assist with the execution of search warrants.
Identify, collect, inventory, and store evidence securely.
Conduct forensic examinations of various media.
Document procedure and findings in official police reports.
College items of evidence for analysis from affiliates and local agents, and assist with preparation.
Testify in criminal or civil matters.
Act as liaison to outside-related governmental, educational, and non-profit agencies. Assist with school and community presentations.
Assist with traveler operations specific to on-site camera surveillance and forensics.
Assist with human trafficking investigations.

Skills and Physical Abilities Required:
Knowledge and understanding of search warrant language and how to gain authority.
Knowledge of how to conduct consent-based searches, and associated authority, scope, and restrictions.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, and to make accurate, factual, concise well-organized reports and presentations.
Ability to work in close quarters in undercover environments.
Ability to conduct equipment demonstrations and conduct public speaking.
Ability to work in small groups.
Skill in on-scene digital devise preview and triaging.
Skill in the on-scene live acquisition of devices running encryption.
Skill in social media investigations.
Skill in desktop, laptop, and mobile device forensic analysis.
Ability to plan, organize, and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions following established policy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
The work is light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Additional requirements include: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Education and Experience Required:
Associate’s Degree in Forensics with at least one year of experience in computer forensics. Law enforcement experience preferred. IACIS and CFCO are preferred. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
